A Very Old Man With Enormous Wings

Image
A Very Old Man With Enormous Wings is a story of magical realism, a story where although there is magic or imaginary things in the story, those imaginary things illuminate realistic attributes that happen in our lives. This story is about a couple who encounters a old man with enormous wings in their backyard faced down in the mud. The couple was dealing with a very sick baby. When they encountered this "creature" they were surprised and didn't know what it was. The old man was dirty and ragged. They believed he could've been an angel but they weren't sure. Throughout the story they treated him like a pest, at first the couple put the old man in the sea for three days but he ended up being back at their house. then the couple put him in a chicken coop and didn't let him out. The couple didn't feed him or tend to him and looked at him as a burden. They counseled a priest and he said this must be an angel because he has wings. The priest told the couple if...

Midterm Project World Literature + Kameron S

Midterm Project 💖   Markers Statement: Creating this infographic was truly a great experience, it allowed me to see the play, "The Seagull" in a different light and truly appreciate what Chekhov was going for in the play. It allowed me to analize what truly had meaning in my life and if what I prioritized was of importance. I had to reread the play at times to have deeper understanding of the themes of the play and also the moral of the story. The moral of the story was the hardest for me to grasp because I believe that it's open for interpretation. There weren't any problems I came across when I fully understood what to do for the midterm project. Initially I had some confession of what I was suppose to do but as professor took time to explain and reassign our assignment with more details then I understood the concept of the project. I choose this piece of literature to write about because it's more relatable.  My infographic : 🔥  h...

The Seagull by Anton Chekhov

Image
This play was truly a lot of twist and turns! Chekhov created a play that wasn't your average play, this play gives you a sense of reality and real things people in this world think about and the false reality of what they want to live up to. This play also made me think about what was truly important to me and if relationships matter more to me or does my career do. We would like to think that many of us have a "healthy balance" but I would personally say relationships matter more to me then my career. In this play they Treplev, Trigorin, Nina, and Arkadina make their career and how successful they are or want to become their identity. They are truly obsessed with them being the next big thing! When Chekhov created this play he got booed and no one liked it, similar to how Treplev was treated in his play that he wrote. No one liked his play because he didn't remotatize the ending and it wasn't how normal plays or literature was written with their "happy en...

Four Poems From Greece by Phoebe Giannisi

Image
Four Poems From Greece  Phoebe Giannisi is a Greek poet, essayist, and translator. Giannisi is known for her experimental and innovative approach to poetry, often blending various genres and forms in her work.  Giannisi's poetry often explores themes related to identity, history, and the human experience. She is known for her rich imagery and symbolism, blending mythology, history, and contemporary issues in her verses. Her work often reflects a deep engagement with the Greek landscape, culture, and language.  I got to read her Four Poems From Greece. Nostos I, Penelope IV, Episode IV, and Cyclops. Three out of four of these poems have roman numerals and its evident that there are m ultiple poems regarding the same topic, same memory. There are connections with multiple poems, they contain fear and losing someone and its sad. It's interesting to me how poetry can be interpreted differently by others and its very important to also hear the person per...
